Sizing & Measurements

Vintage and designer sizing varies by era, brand, and country, so we measure every piece by hand and list its measurements on the product page. The size on the label is a starting point. The measurements are the real guide.

How We Measure

Every item is laid flat and measured in inches.

  • Pit to pit: Straight across the front, from underarm seam to underarm seam
  • Shoulder to cuff: From the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve
  • Length: From the top of the shoulder, beside the collar, down to the hem
  • Waist: Straight across the waistband, edge to edge
  • Hip: Straight across at the widest point
  • Inseam: From the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg

Because pieces are measured flat, widths such as pit to pit, waist, and hip reflect one side of the garment. Double them for the full circumference.

Finding Your Fit

The easiest way to check fit is to lay a similar piece you already own flat, measure it the same way, and compare. Allow a little room for movement, especially in structured pieces like blazers and jackets.
